Blue Mountain Fruit Company has been able to automate most repetitive tasks related to packing apples by implementing new and innovative technologies over the past several years. The most recent upgrade was a 4 lane Greefa CombiSort feeding 4 Greefa Automatic Tray Packers (ATP’s). Once apples have been placed in trays, they are transported to 4 Haley Manufacturing Automatic Tray Inserters. The equipment combination has reduced labour and vastly increased throughput compared to the previous semi-automated pack line. Blue Mountain Fruit Company’s layout, standardized box sizes and case conveyance systems all work together to further increase throughput, reduce changeover time and equipment downtime. The automatic tray inserters have been an evenly matched combination together with the automatic tray packers and we are very happy with the end result.
